A trial consultant for more than 20 years, Noelle C. Nelson, Ph.D. is also an internationally respected psychologist, author and seminar leader.
Dr. Nelson has extensively studied how people think, make decisions and how they commit to those decisions. As a trial consultant, she helps both plaintiff's and defense attorneys enlist the cooperation of 12 perfect strangers (the jury) to get the results they want — all in the face of opposing counsel trying to convince the jury to come to the opposite decision. Since 2000 alone, she has helped win more than $500 million for her plaintiff clients. Her defense clients have saved hundreds of millions more.
Dr. Nelson authored A Winning Case (Prentice Hall) and Connecting with Your Client (American Bar Association) for the legal profession and has published more than 100 articles in legal publications on trial strategies, witness preparation, mock trials and the use of psychological and communication skills by attorneys. In Get Your Way (Prentice Hall), she explains how to use the persuasion techniques of successful trial attorneys in everyday situations. She also produced the highly acclaimed five-part video series "A Winning Case," and "How to Give a Good Deposition and Testify Well in Court."
Dr. Nelson conducts in-house seminars and often speaks before legal organizations, including bar associations, ATLA, ABOTA, Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, Practising Law Institute, Attorney General's Continuing Legal Education Conference and the Southern California Defense Counsel.
Dr. Nelson holds advanced degrees in clinical psychology from the United States International University (M.A., Ph.D.), and sociology degrees from the University of California at Los Angeles (B.A.) and the Sorbonne, Paris (Maitrise, Doctorat 3eme Cycle). She is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Society of Trial Consultants and Psy Chi (National Honors Society in Psychology).
